Get Involved With The Big Schools’ Birdwatch!
Each year, the RSPB hosts an event for schools and their students to get involved with birdwatching, alongside the Big Garden Birdwatch – and we at HugglePets are raring to get involved!
The Big Schools’ Birdwatch has been running for over 20 years, and the reason for this is that the results sent in by schools have actually contributed to research done by the RSPB in how birds are faring across the UK.
As a supplier of both birds and a wide variety of bird feed and products, we encourage everyone to get their shoes muddy and spot some birds this winter! Birdwatching is not only a very easy hobby to get into for people of all abilities, but research strongly suggests that watching our feathered garden friends is only a positive for our mental health.
And as you can see in our community work, we believe that the mental health and wellbeing of young people is extremely important and requires more awareness in our society. So we’re very eager to get schools to take part in this event and get kids interacting with nature.
Additionally, birdwatching (or ‘birding’) can help to build patience, gets people of all ages to go outside, is beneficial to cardiovascular health, and develops an appreciation for nature in general.
As a helping hand to those that wish to get involved with this year’s Big Schools’ Birdwatch, we’d like to offer a free box of Gardman No Grow Fat Snax (usually retailing at £9.99), so get in contact with us and we’ll send your school a freebie!
It’s not too late to sign up to the event as submissions for results close on the 21st of February 2022, but packs are only available until the 30th of January.
