A stick is the most simple of toys, it’s cost-free, takes one simple throw and keeps your dog magically entertained. However, a stick is so simple we would never assume there are risks that come with it, would you? – If your dog enjoys chewing a stick, that stick could be causing severe injury to a dogs mouth and jaw and can cause a lot of choking. The popular practice can cause them ‘horrific’ injuries and even kill them, leading vets have warned. Dogs can choke, bleed to death, or die of lethal infections after catching sticks, they say.

Fresh plants
We all have those dog walking days when your dog is taking extra long to sniff out the surroundings or stop to nibble a bit of grass or maybe your dog eats the odd plant now and then? Well, you need to be careful when your dog is on a wander in the flowers and leaves because some native plants are able to cause your dog vomiting, diarrhea or in the worst case even death.
The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention 0f Cruelty to Animals) has created a very factual and informative list of native plants that are known to have a form of systematic effect on your dogs. Allergies
If you have just got yourself a new family member like a puppy over winter, you may not be aware of your puppies allergies. Dogs are known to develop allergies to common plants such ragweed which is a very common plant to release pollen. Unlike humans, it is known that when dogs have allergies it shows up on their skin as skin problems so it is essential that you keep a close eye on your puppies skin and act on unusual skin conditions to ensure the safety of your puppy.

Spring means chocolate
As you know the wonderful seasonal event called easter falls into spring, which means more chocolate around the house. If you have kids as well as dogs this may become a problem in the sense of the children leaving boxes of chocolate around the house or unattended easter eggs (which should have been eaten with 30 seconds of opening) can cause a lot of curiosity for dogs especially puppies because they haven’t received enough training and they are still exploring the world. If a puppy were to find a piece of chocolate or a box that has chocolate in, they would waste no time getting stuck in and the end result wouldn’t be good.
