Paw and Pad Care for Your Pet
As the Spring and Summer months come around, it’s very important to keep an eye on your dog’s feet.
As the trees, plants and grass begin to grow again, there is a lot of pollen floating around that gets trapped in pads and nail beds while out walking.
Dogs with allergies will start to lick at their feet and nails. This is because the pollen is trapped in your dog’s feet and causes them to itch.
Here are a few tips to keep your dog’s happy!
- To prevent any irritation, always clean your dog’s feet after walks.
- Have your dog’s groomed regularly, so that the groomers can clip out your dog’s pads? If the hair is removed inside their pads, there will be less for the pollen/foreign objects to stick to.
- Dogs have sweat glands inside their pads. During warmer weather, it is very important to keep your dog’s pads and feet short or free of hair. This allows them to be able to cool down properly.
